Sculpting courses in Berlin

Sculpture Studio

10 days art and encounter in Umbria

Marble Sculpting Course with Peter Rosenzweig from June 28 to July 8, 2026

I am delighted to have found the ideal location for a 10-day marble sculpture course near Lake Trasimeno.

Where will you be working?

We will be staying and working at the privately run Casa Simoncelli, which is the perfect place for us. It is a large, 150-year-old estate that the owner has lovingly developed over the years as a place to live and work artistically. It is surrounded by olive groves in the hilly landscape typical of Tuscany and Umbria. In addition to the main house, there is a studio, covered terraces, and extensive grounds where we can work. Casa Simoncelli is located on the border between Umbria and Tuscany in Crocicchie, on a hill on the road from Lisciano to Lake Trasimeno.

What can you expect from the course?

Over the course of two weeks, I will guide you from the initial artistic idea to your own finished sculpture. Beginners will learn the techniques of marble sculpting step by step, while advanced students can also realize challenging projects.  The best marble stones of various sizes and all the necessary tools will be provided. We will work on the stone for 7 hours a day, and on weekends there will be time for excursions to the beautiful surrounding area—Perugia, Assisi, and Arezzo are less than an hour away—or for swimming in the lake. Those who wish to can, of course, continue working on their stone.

Who is your course instructor?

I, Peter Rosenzweig, studied sculpture in Carrara, Italy, and now live as an artist in Berlin and Italy. For 45 years, I ran the “Campo dell'Altissimo” summer academy in Azzano. Due to major renovations, no courses can currently be held there, which is why I am very happy to have found such a beautiful place here where we can work with the usual Campo quality.

Where will you sleep and what will you eat?

Casa Simoncelli has 10 guest rooms, which can be booked as either single or double rooms.  Meals are provided by a fantastic chef, who will treat us to famous Italian cuisine.

The day begins with a rich and healthy breakfast. Lunch is a little lighter, for example pasta or risotto with salad. And every evening we enjoy a classic Italian 4-course menu. All food is fresh and sourced locally.

How much does the course cost?

The course fee for 10 days is € 980.

The course can only be booked with accommodation and meals. These costs are added to the course price and are payable on arrival: accommodation including full board in a single room costs 105 euros per person per day, in a double room 95 euros per person.
